Betsy.... gamechanger!

If my daughter is ever in a relationship like I have with this website.... I will not be pleased.  I am quite neglectful when it comes to this page, but oh well.   I am back, and accepts me with open arms because that is our dynamic.

Pam and I had a kid!   Betsy Kay Tholen was born in February and has changed everything.  I feel like I am in a new club now that has a shared experience of trauma, joy, fear, excitement, nervousness, stress, but mostly total LOVE.   If you'd like to see some picture of her I'll give you some options. #dailyBetsyfix on instagram or facebook is a good place to start.  I also bought her name as a domain because of some sort of tech geek nesting instinct.  It wasn't the only one I bought.  It's like a weird tech land grab... hard to explain.

Seven and a half weeks have now passed and Pam went back to work today.  I am taking the next couple weeks to stay home with Betsy and have a few goals for myself when I am home.  One of which is to chronicle our days on this site, because I actually have something to write about.   I also discovered an old pal who has been writing a blog and I'd be lying it I didn't admit that it sparked this a little as well.  Nicely done kimBERLY.

Day one of this experience is today.  Pam got off to work and I didn't get washed over with nearly as much panic as I thought I might.  I have changed some diapers, fed the little lady, played with her some (although I am likely just entertaining myself), and TRIED to get a few things done.  Not much extra time really.  I just put Betsy down for a nap and should probably be using this brief time for a shower or other things but here I am.

More on this later.....

The Streak ends.

Pam and I have been on quite a weekend streak these past couple months.  With the start of school and all that craziness we also began a streak of weddings and wedding-related weekends that was truly a blast... and a bit exhausting.

In the span of 7 weeks we attended 5 weddings, 1 bachelor party (that one was more me than her, but she made the trip) and 1 homecoming weekend.  All these events took place in the St. Louis region of the state (mostly Washington, MO).   Homecoming was, oddly enough, the relaxing weekend.  It didn't include the 7ish hours of drive time that the other six weekends contained.   If you are unaware, I am a Student Council advisor so this wasn't punishment or anything.... just a long, fun weekend.

All good things come to an end.  This weekend we will be staying in the Kansas City region and I don't think either of us have ever been so excited to do nothing.    I had a lot of fun but that driving really takes it out of you.   Wedding season is almost over.  I am shooting one in a couple weeks and then the wedding shoes are getting put away for the winter.   These shoes are, of course, metaphorical.  I'm not THAT fancy.

It may seem odd that I am typing this so late.   Nope.   We just took an accidental 4.5 hour nap.   That number may be a little off.... i just took a huge nap.   It really was about that long, though.    That's just an example of the symptoms of constant road-tripping.

Leaving on a jet plane.

Some random photos from these last few days.
Pam and I are headed to the airport here in stl and are headed to sunny San Diego to spend some holiday coast time with my family (my sister lives there). I would NOT mind this becoming a holiday tradition. I hope to keep this site updated every day while we are away. I have a couple shoots I need to post as well but I really can't do that until I am at a computer. Post over Christmas break will be done via phone.
Merry Christmas everybody.

i got married!

There is a pretty strong chance that you are aware of this...... but Pam and I got married!   That is one of many reasons this site has been a bit neglected lately.      School starts soon (woot!?).  With school comes structure and therefore more interesting updates..... or just updates at all.

Wedding photos will be available soon.   Josh and Jenny of Solar Photographers photographed our big day and we are very excited to see what they captured.

a little video link of our wedding.... or maybe our rehearsal dinner
