whew! after a really long winter off (only seems long, just excited about getting behind my camera) I am getting some great bookings now. Senior pictures, couples, engagements, families...... man it feels good. Keep em coming!
Engaged Encounter
Pam and I spent this weekend at our Engaged Encounter retreat. For those of you who don't know what this is, it is a pre-marriage retreat that couples do before getting marriend in the Catholic Church. I am kind of curious why this isn't a manditory thing. It's always great to spend time with the Pam so it was a successful fun weekend.
The Killing
If you have watched any of AMC's original series and you haven't watched 'the killing' then you need to. You can catch up on 'on demand' if you have comcast.... not sure how TWcable or other cables work. It isn't graphic or anything really.... very gripping though.
Swamp People!
Last weekend Pam spent a good portion of an evening watching Swamp People episodes back to back to back. I am not sure if she stumbled across it accidentally or what but i started watching it last week (the start of season 2).
Its basically a show about alligator hunting in the Bayou. The season lasts 30 days (gator season) so these dudes have to catch as many as they can in that time span. It's pretty wild.

Good PR
As you all probably know I am a teacher at Fort Osage High School. I work with the Student Council there as well. The local newspaper that covers Fort and the surrounding schools is called the Examiner. The Examiner has been running a series of stories about teens and their decision making and the consequences that surround the decisions they make. The series is called Just say Know. It talks about addiction, teen pregnancy, crime and violence and the consequences to the futures of these students and their athletics. There were also pieces about people making positive impacts and good decisions and I was very proud that a great young man from Fort was featured in this positive light. He is a student athlete at Fort, and one of the many great young students I get to work with in student council. If you'd like.... check it out here.
With all the legislative and political issues surrounding education these days it is very easy to lose focus on what is important and what will always be important..... serving students. Articles like this make it a little easier to focus on doing what I do without worrying about everything else.
